Every now and then, Bernie Ecclestone opens up with an off the wall opinion. This time the F1 ringmaster has voiced his view on Jenson Button, who finds his future up in the air with Honda’s withdrawal from the sport. The 78-year-old said in the Daily Telegraph he believes Button would do better to take a year off than tool around with a backmarker, and that it is a “pity” he signed a three-year deal with Honda. Montreal has given up its attempt to reinstate the Canadian Grand Prix on the 2009 schedule. The two sides were unable to reach a financial arrangement to save the race, ITV reporting Bernie Ecclestone was asking for a guarantee of CND$175m over five years.
